#606-Full-Time Nanny in Harlem, NYC

Location: Harlem, NYC

General Schedule: Monday through Friday, from 7:30am – 5:00pm. 

The family can offer occasional flexibility with start and end times when needed, and appreciates a nanny who can be similarly flexible. Guaranteed 42–45 hours per week.

Child’s age at start: 4-year-old (g), 17-month-old (g), and a newborn on the way!

Ideal start date: End of April

Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

• Planning and facilitating age-appropriate, enriching, and engaging activities
• Taking the children to school, classes, and activities, pick up and drop off
• Taking the children to playdates, parks, and educational outings throughout the city
• Maintaining the children’s sleeping and eating schedules

• Handle all child-related laundry

• Helping prepare meals for the children
• Diaper changes and supporting overall healthy hygiene
• Bottle feedings, keeping the bottles and other equipment clean and sterilized
• Helping the children reach other milestones 
• Keeping the children’s room, the kitchen, and the shared spaces in the home clean and tidy
• Reading to the children
• Maintain daily communication in a group chat with the parents
• Restocking household and child-related items and groceries

• Punctual, reliable, and dependable
• High emotional intelligence with strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Caring, gentle, flexible, and adaptable to adjust to meet the different personalities of our kids 
• Active, energetic, and willing to take the kids on educational outings throughout the city
• Organized and will help reinforce/establish consistent routines and schedules for the children
• Kind, patient, warm, nurturing, and playful 
• Neat, clean, and tidy
• Attentive, safety-conscious, and fully present when caring for the children, with minimal personal phone use during working hours.
• Collaborative and team-oriented, and comfortable working alongside Mom, who is currently at home.
• Interested in a long-term role and growing with the family 
• Fluency in another language, especially Portuguese (as mom is Brazilian), is appreciated but not required 

About the family: 

A warm, close-knit family is seeking a professional, collaborative nanny to join their household as they prepare to welcome their third child. Mom is currently pregnant, and Dad has a demanding work schedule that often requires travel.

The eldest child is in school for most of the day, and Mom typically handles the morning school drop-off. Mom also enjoys cooking for the family, though some assistance with light meal preparation may be appreciated, particularly after the new baby arrives.

The majority of the nanny’s day will involve caring for the toddler and newborn, with additional support needed in the late afternoon and early evening after school pick-up.

Please note the family lives in a four-story brownstone, and the role requires frequent use of stairs throughout the day.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of relevant full-time nanny experience with similar age groups
• Experience with multiples
• Lives within a reasonable distance of Harlem
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S
• Professional references from prior families
• Fully vaccinated (Tday, MMR, Covid, Flu) or willing to get boosted
• CPR and First Aid Certified (or willing to get it renewed)
• Comfortable with frequent use of stairs in the home
• Pet-friendly – the family has a friendly cat

Compensation: starting at $40.00 per hour gross, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Overtime paid at 1.5× the regular rate after 40 hours per week.
