A warm, active family based in the Upper West Side of NYC with three young boys (ages 5, 6, and 9) is seeking a reliable, engaging, part-time Nanny / Family Assistant. The role will primarily involve child care after school for their 9-year-old son. The role will also involve occasional care of the younger two children, 5 and 6 years old, (typically during school holidays and breaks) who are in an after-school program until 6 PM during the school year.
Position Details
- Location: Upper West Side, NYC
- Start Date: Sept 2025
- Schedule: 25 hours/week+
- Anticipated Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 1:30pm–6:30pm
- Occasional full-day coverage (8:00am–6:00pm) when children are off from school. Expected to be 30 days per year which may include:
- Summer / Winter / Spring Break: 15+ days total expected
- School holidays: 10-15 days total expected*
- Anticipated Hours:
- Children’s Ages: 9, 6 and 5 years old. Note: during the school year, the 5 and 6 year old are enrolled in after school program until 6 pm
*may include: Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Indigenous People’s Day, Diwali, Election Day, Veteran’s Day, Wednesday before Thanksgiving, MLK Jr. Day, Lunar New Year, Eid-al-Fitr, Eid-al-Adha, Chancellor’s Day, Clerical Day
Job Responsibilities
- School pick-up and transport to/from after-school activities
- Help with homework and school projects
- Prepare snacks and light meals for the child/ren
- Light tidying related to the kids (toys, dishes, laundry) and help child/ren maintain cleanliness of their room and shared household spaces
- Occasional help running errands, grocery shopping, helping organize kids’ calendar
- Provide a warm, engaging, and nurturing environment
Ideal Candidate
- 3+ years of full-time nanny / family assistant experience with school-aged children
- Warm, emotionally intelligent, communicative, and dependable
- Interested in a long-term role that evolves with the family
- Professional and approachable demeanor
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with parents
- Organized and proactive with strong follow-through
Requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- 3+ years of relevant nanny experience
- 2–3 strong references from similar roles
- Up-to-date on vaccinations (COVID, Flu)
- CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to renew)
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $40.00 per hour
- Legal employment: W-2
