Full-Time Early Childhood Education Specialist / Manny Needed on the Upper East Side
Location: The Upper East Side or Manhattan
Children’s Ages: 18 months old and newborn (boys)
Ideal Start Date: by May, 2025, with flexibility to start sooner.
General Schedule: ideally Wednesday through Sunday from 8am – 6pm. Some flexibility is needed.
Travel: Occasional travel
The family is ideally seeking a male nanny who is active, engaged with the boys, serves as a positive role model, and is interested in a long-term position. A newborn care specialist (NCS) is caring for the baby until June 2025.
The family is Mandarin-and English-speaking, and preference will be given to Mandarin speaking candidates; however, it is not a requirement. We encourage all candidates who meet the listed requirements to apply!
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to;
- Provide competent and kind oversight for the children, ensuring their needs are met and they remain safe.
- Communicate all matters of significance regarding the children’s care to the parents in a timely and clear manner.
- Discipline the children when necessary and in accordance with the parent’s principles.
- Instill good manners, a sense of responsibility, and age-appropriate social skills.
- Ensure the children are properly clothed, fed, and bathed during the periods they are in your care.
- Arrange for and encourage social interactions with peers to foster social development.
- Safely transport the children to and from lessons, camps, extracurricular activities, etc.
- Be responsible for the children’s laundry and maintaining tidy, organized areas where the children play and sleep.
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks that support healthy growth and development.
- Assist with tutoring, homework, and educational projects, reinforcing early childhood education principles.
- Travel with the children and the family when needed, supporting the children’s well-being during trips.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that fosters growth, development, and learning.
- Provide early childhood education-focused activities that support the children’s cognitive, emotional, and physical development.
- Encourage and model positive learning experiences, including reading, exploring new topics, and fostering curiosity.
- Support the children’s social-emotional growth through positive reinforcement, conflict resolution, and guided interactions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements
- Early Childhood Education Experience.
- Experience with infants.
- Experience working with multiples.
- Legally permitted to work in the U.S.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willing to get it renewed)
- A degree in childhood education is a plus but not required.
- Great communication skills
- Active, energetic.
- Flexible to travel and work at various locations when needed.
- Flexible with the schedule.
- Knowledge of the community and activities available to children.
- Physical stamina and mobility, including ability to reach, kneel and bend. Able to lift, push and pull 30 lbs.
- Must be able to maintain a high degree of ethics and professionalism.
- Must be well organized, a self-starter, and have the ability to work independently.
- Diplomatic, tactful and discrete concerning confidential information. Must demonstrate unquestionable integrity at all times.
- The ability to drive is a huge plus.
Compensation: starting at approximately $114,400 per year, based on a typical 50-hour per week schedule. Negotiable based on experience, credentials, flexibility with the schedule, and Mandarin language proficiency. Overtime is paid after 40 hours of work per week.
