#499 Full-Time Nanny Needed in Brooklyn Heights, NY

Location: Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn

Start Date: As soon as the family finds the right fit, ideally by November. 

Age of the Child: the child will be around 3-4 months old at the start.

General schedule: Monday through Friday from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Some flexibility is needed. The family can guarantee 45-50 hours per week. An earlier end time or slightly later start time can be discussed.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • This position is ideal for a nanny seeking a role with a wonderful family for at least the next 2-3 years or more.

  • The family is looking for a nanny with significant experience caring for infants aged 3-12 months, who is well-versed in child development and passionate about helping children reach their developmental milestones in a positive, nurturing manner.

  • The right candidate will be warm, friendly, have excellent communication skills, and will have the ability to work collaboratively with parents. The parents work in writing and editing and work from the home office.

  • They live on the 3rd and 4th floors of a home in Brooklyn. The stroller can be left in the lobby, but the nanny must be able to safely carry the baby up two flights of stairs. There is one  flight of stairs up to the lobby. 

  • Must like dogs. They have a super friendly dog, mixed breed, about 50 pounds, and she loves attention!

  • Experience with food allergies is a plus, but not required.

  • The family goes to the Hamptons for part of the summer. A nanny with some flexibility to travel domestically a few times a year will be ideal. 

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Actively engaging the child in age-appropriate developmental activities, including tummy time, interactive play, encouraging language development, and stimulating cognitive and motor skills.

  • Supporting the achievement of age-appropriate milestones (e.g. transitioning to solids, learning to walk, etc).

  • Diaper changes, restocking diapers and wipes, and dressing the child.

  • Supporting his healthy hygiene.

  • Bottle feedings and the sterilization of the bottles and equipment.

  • Keep parents informed of feeding times and nap schedules.

  • Daily walks in the stroller.

  • Reading to the baby.

  • Child's laundry.

  • Meal preparation for the child as he transitions to solids and clean-up after meals.

  • Keeping the home's main spaces and the child’s room clean and tidy.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of relevant nanny experience with infants.

  • Vaccinated.

  • Legally permitted to work in the U.S. 

  • 2-3 relevant references. 

  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.

  • Resides within a reasonable commuting distance from Brooklyn Heights.

Compensation: Legal pay. The hourly rate starts at approximately $30-35.00 gross per hour, depending on the right candidate's experience, flexibility, and credentials. OT is offered after the first 40 hours. 

Benefits: 10 days of paid vacation. 5-6 paid sick days and paid major holidays. MTA card reimbursmeent. Other benefits, such as a healthcare stipend, can be negotiated for the right candidate.
